Frequently Asked Questions

If I explain the problem, can you tell me what's wrong with my unit over the telephone?

Sorry, it is nearly impossible to diagnose the problem with your unit without looking at it. Sometimes, a problem you think might be the power supply (such as flashing lights) may actually indicate a bad motor. When you tell us your unit is not moving, it may be an issue with the motor, the unit or the power supply -- or possibly problems with more than one component. The only way to accurately diagnose the problem is for us to physically examine your machine and complete a thorough analysis.

What's this going to cost?

We really cannot estimate the cost of your repairs without inspecting your machine. So many different things could be causing your problem, it's not really fair to you -- or to us -- to quote you a price. In general, we can provide you with a rough idea of the cost of parts and labor, but it is just a "guesstimate."

Keep in mind, when we do inspect a cleaner that's not covered under warranty, we provide an accurate, written estimate for you to approve before we make any repairs. If you choose not to make the repairs, you only owe the bench fee for our inspection. We can return your unit to you (at your cost if shipping is necessary), or we can dispose of your unit for you.

If I buy a new cleaner, what would you recommend?

We recommend Maytronics pool cleaners to our customers. What's important to consider is your investment in your pool to determine the best model for you. If you're planning to keep your pool for the next 10 years or so, or you're not anticipating a move, you may want to consider a higher-priced model that will give you more reliable service and be cost-effective to repair. Our best advice is to call Maytronics US (770-613-5050) and discuss the features of your pool: Is it in-ground or above ground? What is its size and shape? Does it have a liner, fiberglass or concrete lining? Are there steps or ladders into the pool? Providing the manufacturer with these specifics will assist them in determining the best pool cleaner for your needs.

Do you sell pool cleaners?

At this time we do not sell new Dolphins. We suggest you contact Maytronics for product information and a dealer in your area.

Can I buy parts for my pool cleaner from you and repair it myself?

We stock the most common parts. When necessary, we can order parts and ship them to you or have you pick them up. Please note, however, that parts are not returnable. There are no refunds, no warranties, and no guarantees on these parts. Our manufacturer requires us to physically examine each unit in order to provide a warranty on the parts we replace. Without analyzing your unit, we cannot guarantee the part we sell you will be correctly installed or fix your cleaner's problems.

It is worth it to get my cleaner fixed?

Once a unit is out of warranty, the cost of a repair may not be a wise investment. Considering parts and labor, plus shipping when applicable, you may be able to purchase a new pool cleaner -- with a warranty -- for about the same price as the repairs. In general, if two of the three main components (motor, cable, power supply) fail, the unit is typically not worth fixing due to the high cost of these replacement parts.
